Abstract: Objective To study the expression of hK2 and Ki-67 in prostate cancer and its clinical significance. Methods Expression of hK2 and Ki-67 was studied in tissues collected from 40 cases of prostate cancer(PCa) and 30 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) using the immunohistochemical SP method. Results The rates of hK2 and Ki-67 expression were significantly higher in PCa than in BPH (P<0.05).Positive expression of hK2 in PCa tissue correlated with Gleason grading (P<0.05) but not with clinical stage(P>0.05),while positive expression of Ki-67 correlated with clinical stage(P<0.05) but not with Gleason grading(P>0.05).Expression of hK2 positively correlated with expression of Ki-67(P<0.05). Conclusions Abnormal expression of hK2 and Ki-67 correlated closely with the diagnosis and prognosis of PCa.Combined detection of hK2 and Ki-67 may be useful as a marker for early diagnosis and prognostic evaluation of PCa.
